Tomatoes!

The tomatoes have finally arrived! It has truly been a struggle for our tomato crop this year. First pests eating the seedlings causing us to reseed much later in the season, and then almost two months with little to no rain and temps in the upper 90’s! But they are finally starting to grace our summer tables, this week you will get a cone of delicious heirloom cherry tomatoes. They come in orange, yellow and red and are perfect for snacking on, tossing into a summer salad, or chopping up and adding to fresh salsa.

One of the herbs this week is epazote. Epazote is a traditional herb that hails from Mexico and is used in bean dishes. I love it’s truly unique flavor in chili, herb butter, or bean dip. A little goes a long way for this tasty herb, so taste as you go!

This past week I found a sale on perennial flowers and found so many wonderful varieties for the farm. All told we planted over 30 one gallon pots of fantastic flowers for next summer. Everything from Butterfly bush and bees balm, to sedum and Russian sage. I am so excited to harvest these beauties by the arm load next summer!

See you on Friday!
