The Great Migration

What a busy two weeks it has been since the last blog post! As most of you now know our friends at Mothership Natural Market sadly closed their doors last week. Because of this the CSA pick up has moved up the road to Willow Point in mystic, the address 16 Maxon St. My goal is to keep the pick up as local as possible so that the trip to pick up your shares won’t be too different. Pick up times will remain 2-6 to try to keep things as consistent as I can.

Here on the farm things have been humming right along. Over the last two weeks we have planted over 200 tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and loads of herbs and flowers. Some of my very favorite plants such as husk cherries and Jimmy Nardello peppers are growing up a storm! I can’t wait for all the summer treats to be ready.

This week the herb in your share is a traditional herb from Mexico called epozote. Epazote has a very singular sharp smell and a unique flavor profile, is commonly used in bean dishes and and is a favorite in our household to make amazing authentic Mexican dinners! Try it in chili, beans and rice or home made tacos. Just chop it up and add it when you are cooking.

I love to hear how you have been enjoying your shares! If you have a picture of your tasty creations I would love to see them, you can tag the farm on social media or email them to me. And of course I love to chat when you pick up your share and hear all the amazing recipe ideas you have.

See you Friday!

-Farmer Sharon
