Market days!
Last week we had our very first farmer’s market of the season! Every week from now until September you can find us at the Ledyard and Montville farmer’s markets. Markets are such a wonderful way to build a community and share all the amazing heirlooms I grow and love. The rest of the summer is shaping up to be our best one yet!
In your shares this week you will be getting some of my favorite spring and early summer veggies! The first is Broccoli Raab (pronounced like rob) is a close cousin to the broccoli you would find in the grocery store. Broccoli raab has small flower heads and delicious leaves that have a similar flavor to standard broccoli mixed with arugula. Try your broccoli raab sauteed as a side dish, in a salad or in pasta.
We also have green garlic and snow peas. Green garlic is just like the garlic you find in the grocery store only younger, so there is no need to peel the cloves. just chop it up like a leek and enjoy! Unlike snap peas or shelling peas, snow peas do not need to be shelled or strings removed. you can enjoy the whole pod as is, I like them in salad, in stir fry, and on their own as a tasty snack!
See you on Friday!
