Happy Easter
This week has been full of seeding, cleaning new beds, and transplanting. Right now we are seeding the next succession of lettuce, Asian greens, and herbs for this summer. At the same time we have been transplanting tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant into larger pots so they can grow nice and big for when we plant them in the ground at the end of May.
Hyacinth and grape hyacinth are the focus of this week's bouquets. Both are highly scented flowers that will make your whole house smell like spring! Hyacinths come in a wide range of bright colors, including crisp white, dark blue, cheery pink , and soft purple.
The herb in this week’s pick up is baby mint! Mint is a favorite of mine and it has so many different uses. Try yours chopped finely in fruit salad, as garnish for desserts or added to a pitcher of water to lightly flavor it.
This week we are introducing edible flowers, pansies specifically. Pansies have a delicate floral flavor that makes them perfect for everything from decorating baked goods, topping salads, adding to cocktails and bringing color to any dish.
See you on Friday!
