Fall is Finally Here!
Fall is officially here! Fall is my favorite season, cool days with little to no humidity, getting the farm ready for winter, and some of my favorite veggies of the year. The stormy weather of this season is the perfect reason to make all kinds of warming soups, roasting veggies and drinking lots of tea.
Last weekend was the Olde Mistick Garlic Festival. We had a fantastic first year, with picture perfect weather. I am already making plans and getting excited for next year. We are planting even more of our three main garlic varieties, as well as adding new varieties. One of the types of garlic I am looking to add is called “soft neck garlic”. As the name suggests, soft neck garlic is far more pliable then hard neck garlic. This means I can braid it differently then I normally do, I can’t wait to start experimenting.
One of the items this week is pearling onions! Pearling onions are perfect to roast whole, they pop right out of their skins. I like to roast them with chicken and lots of herbs.
See you on Friday!
