Almost Fall

With the days starting to shorten and a chill in the air in the morning I am looking forward to fall. With the season shifting I have been planning and preparing for winter and next spring. This includes ordering fall bulbs, mulching, Seeding cover crops and planting flowers, greens and root veggies that will over winter and be ready as soon as spring comes again. There are so many perennials that I am planting now that I can’t wait to share with you in the spring!

This week garlic is stepping into the spot light! For a bit better then a month the garlic has been drying and curing. This gives it a longer shelf life and a rich flavor. Garlic is one of the most used seasoning in the kitchen and there are dozens of ways to let it shine. Try your garlic in shrimp scampi, garlic bread or any of your favorite dishes!

Also this week we have green chili pepper! Green chilis can be used in many diffirent dishes such as salsa, soups or tacos. Although most of the heat is stored in the seeds they can pack a punch so try wearing gloves when you chop them, and don’t forget not to rub your eyes!

See you all on Friday!
