A Close Call

This past weekend Connecticut braced for hurricane Henri. Here at the farm we made sure to harvest any fragile crops, like tomatoes the night before the storm hit. We were very blessed that the wind was not to harsh and all the plants enjoyed the deep soaking rain.

With the storm front came a heat spike! At almost 90 degrees for three days straight the tomatoes, peppers, and snap beans are soaking it all up and growing before my eyes. There are so many new veggies coming in the next few weeks and I am so excited to share them with you!

Also this week I got another batch of fall seeding done! This seeding includes spinach, cilantro, dill, and carrots. These veggies should be ready by fall to enjoy with many other favorites. Fall seeding is a great way to extend the growing season here and add new crops to what is already growing in the field.

See you all on Friday,

-Farmer Sharon
