A Chill Is In The Air

The weather continues to turn cool and the farm is changing with the season too. I have been preparing beds for fall bulbs, garlic and greens to over winter. Sadly this means saying goodbye to some of our summer favorites until next year, this week is the first with out cherry tomatoes since August. I will miss them, but I am equally ready to enjoy some of my fall favorites.

This week you will get one of my garden favorites, cabbage! Cabbage is often underestimated, mostly used for coleslaw and sauerkraut. Although you can use your cabbage this way my go-to is buttered cabbage! Slice your cabbage in ribbons, then melt a pat of butter in a frying pan and cook the cabbage until tender. add salt and pepper to taste. This is my favorite way to serve cabbage as a nice hot side dish to all sorts of meals, try it along side pork chops, roasted chicken or even on it’s own.

This week we also have green sweet peppers! The peppers you will see on Friday are not bell peppers, they are known as Italian frying peppers. These green peppers have a lovely sweet flavor and are perfect to add to peppers with mushrooms, stir fry or salsa! They are a favorite in my house and are added to almost every meal.

See you on Friday!
