Praying for Rain

As I am sure you all know we have been experiencing an intense drought this summer. What that means for us here at the farm is that many of our summer favorites like tomatoes, husk cherries, and tomatillos have been very slow to ripen due to the lack of rain. Here’s hoping we get some good soaking showers soon!

Last week we finished up the 2022 garlic harvest, which means all of the beds the garlic was growing in are now empty and ready for new plantings. We are in the procces of of seeding all kinds of fall veggies like radishes, lettuce, arugula and more. I can’t wait to start harvesting them in a few weeks.

One of the new items in this weeks CSA share are Cipollini onions! Cipollini onions are a Italian heirloom bred to be the shape and size of golden coins, and for their amazing flavor! You can use them any way you normally enjoy onions, but one of my favorite way to cook them is to roast them whole and then pop them out of the skins later.

See you on Friday!
